In Queensland, Compulsory Third Party (CTP) insurance protects motor vehicle owners and drivers from being held financially responsible if they injure someone in a motor vehicle accident. It also enables a person who is injured wholly or partly due to the actions of another driver to access medical treatment and rehabilitation support as well as receiving fair and timely compensation.
Owners of Queensland road registered vehicles must obtain their CTP Rally Extension letter and email it to entries@hsccq.com prior to the day of the event. This is obtained by requesting it from the CTP provider listed on the
vehicle registration.

Motorkhana FAQs
All production vehicles (excluding AWD) are sorted into competition classes based on their Wheelbase size (the distance between the centers of the front and rear wheels). There is a single class for AWD (All Wheel Drive) vehicles, and custom built “Specials” classed as either FWD (Front Wheel Drive) or RWD (Rear Wheel Drive).
There are many sites on the internet where you can lookup the dimensions of you vehicle and find out the wheelbase.
example: https://www.carsguide.com.au/car-dimensions
In Motorkhana, there are seven classes as follows:
Class A = wheelbase up to 2150mm
Class B = wheelbase from 2151 to 2390mm
Class C = wheelbase from 2391 to 2574mm
Class D = wheelbase 2575mm and over
Class E = Production vehicles with 4 wheel drive
Class F = Front wheel drive specials
Class G = Rear wheel drive specials
Your vehicle must be presented in a clean and tidy roadworthy condition, and no special modifications are required. On event day, volunteers will perform a safety check on your vehicle and attire.
Scrutineers will judge if your car is safe to drive, and will check:
· General presentation– no accident damage, structurally sound, no bits falling off, clean and tidy
· Tyres – must be in “safe to use” condition. Tread can be low, but carcass must not be exposed
· Oil leaks – Vehicles with major oil leaks will not be permitted to run
· Battery – for physical security, and the positive terminal must be completely covered by an insulator or electrical tape (to reduce the chance of a spark)
· Steering – for excessive free play and structural security
· Seats – base must be very securely mounted to rails and floor, and the backrest must not exhibit excessive movement relative to the base
· Seat belts – must be ADR compliant and in good condition with no significant damage such as cuts or fraying. Original seat belts in good condition are fine. Harnesses, if fitted, must be FIA or SFI approved, authentic, and in date.
· Loose objects– potential missiles must be removed
· Fire extinguishers are optional. If fitted they will be checked for date of manufacture, charge condition, and mounting quality and security.
· Modified cars may receive extra scrutiny
Singlets, thongs or sandals are not acceptable, even if you are a passenger.
At scrutineering, the scrutineers may wish to see the clothing you propose to wear during competition. The minimum standard is:
· Short sleeves and shorts – low flammability fabric such as cotton (for motorkhana)
· Long pants and shirt – non–flammable clothing from ankles to neck to wrists (for Khanacross)
· Socks – Cotton, Wool, or blend preferred
· Closed in shoes – Leather shoes are a sensible choice
If you are driving a convertible an approved helmet must be worn unless the car has a bolted–in hardtop. Scrutineers will check for:
· Sticker stating compliance to AS1698 or higher standard
· General condition of helmet – cracks, dents, visor and lining
· Condition of straps and clasp
Khanacross FAQs

Class B = Engine 1401cc to 1600cc
Class C = Engine 1601cc to 2000cc

All production vehicles (excluding AWD) are sorted into competition classes based on their Engine Capacity (measured in CC, with multipliers applied to that capacity number for both Turbocharged / Supercharged and Rotary engines). There are single classes for AWD (All Wheel Drive) production vehicles, custom built “Specials” and “Modified Production” vehicles (eg: using race slick tires) in either 2WD (2 Wheel Drive) or AWD (All Wheel Drive) platform.
Rotary engine vehicles engine capacity will be determined by multiplying the capacity by 1.8 times.
Supercharged & Turbocharged engine vehicles will have their engine capacity multiplied by 1.7 times for spark ignition engines and 1.5 times for diesel engines.
All Khanacross vehicles must be fitted with a fire extinguisher, compliant with the requirements of a Hand-Held Extinguisher within Schedule H of the Motorsport Australia Manual. (Minimum 900g Capacity AS 1841). They will be checked for date of manufacture, charge condition, and mounting quality and security.
